SMS Kaiserin Elisabeth
A little-known but remarkable episode of the First World War is the Siege of Tsingtao in the fall of 1914, which saw Japanese troops (with some support from the British) besiege and capture the German-controlled port city of Tsingtao in northern China. The involvement of crew of the Austro-Hungarian cruiser SMS Kaiserin Elisabeth in the siege presents a unique facet in this obscure corner of the Great War. Click here for further details!
